REVIEW: Raul Ghost Softies
Late last year, we reviewed one of the first plush creations from Fuzzy Balls Apparel…a company known for their cute and creepy t-shirt designs. Named Raul, the handmade plush was a recreation of one of their popular t-shirt characters. We also saw Raul as a part of their Los Huevos resin figure line.
At San Diego Comic Con, FBA had a quite impressive display of Raul Ghost Softies. While they were only available in white, gray or black when sold online, the Raul Ghost Softies at SDCC were made of various fabric patterns. We’ll be looking at the Raul made using green argyle fabric.

The Raul Ghost Softie has the standard Softies tag. It gives a little information about the line and features the Softies logo on the front.
I’ve seen less and less handmade plushies hitting the market lately. Or maybe it’s just that I’m seeing more mass (and limited edition) produced plushies that it makes those handmade pieces seem a little more limited.
All of the Softies from Fuzzy Balls Apparel are made by hand. And the group of Raul Ghost Softies that they had on hand at Comic Con used various found fabrics so all of the stuffed plushies were extremely limited. I went with the green argyle pattern because you don’t see that many argyle ghosts.
I’m a fan of the Raul character. I’d actually like to see the orange and black plush version turned into a vinyl or resin figure. The Raul Ghost uses the same screen printed face as that original orange and black Raul plush. The stitching work is fairly average for a handmade piece. And while I’d rate this slightly below the original, I think if you’re a fan of the character…you’ll appreciate the Raul Ghost Softie.
