REVIEW: Lubies Series One (Part 1)
The newest – and one of the cutest – plush lines from Rocket USA designer Michael Perry and Joy Michel (the designer behind the Beanie Babies) is the softball shaped Lubies. “Lubies are a break-through line of plush combining clean, charming designs with the irresistible, playable shape of a ball.”
With the release of the Lubies Series One in January, Rocket USA introduced us to 12 different animal characters. In this first of two reviews of the Lubies line, we’ll be looking at six of those plushies.
There’s no packaging on the line. However, each Lubie includes a tag that features various background scenes depending on the animals’ habitat. On the inside of the tag, there is an illustration of the character as well as a “Did You Know?” section.
The Lubies are approximately 5.5" tall and 5" wide – about the size of a softball. The extremely soft plushies are for adults and children (from 0+). Rocket USA has released a pair of Lubies targeted towards infants. The My First Lubies are bears available in pink and blue.
The six characters that we’re looking at for the first half of our review are the Polar Bear, Brown Bear, Dog and Cat (as well as the My First Lubies). All four of the bear characters use the same pattern, they are just different colors.
