Background

If you’re into collecting plush toys, you’ve most definitely heard the name Anna Chambers. She’s released lines such as the Doolie Boxes, Suzy and Sammy, Lucy Owl and – most recently – the Fresh Fruit.

The Fresh Fruit line is made up of four different apples, with differing personalities and colors.  There are two red apples and two green apples, and there’s a happy and sad version of each color.

Packaging

Each plush apple comes packaged in its own clear plastic shell – for preserving your fruit.  Each case has a sticker with a drawing of the enclosed apple.

The Figure

Anna Chambers’ Fresh Fruit plush line consists of four different apple variants: Happy Red (Ripe & Juicy); Happy Green (Crisp & Delicious); Sad Red (Tart & Tangy); Sad Green (Sad & Sour). Each plush is approximately 6.5” tall (to top of leaf) and 4.5” round.

Each plush has a stem and a single leaf, as well as a pair of black eyes. The red apples appear to be made of soft velour, while the green apples feel more like a fleece material.

All four of these Fresh Fruit plushies are limited editions: Happy Red (450 pieces), Happy Green (200 pieces), Sad Red (200 pieces) and Sad Green (150 pieces).

Our Opinion

We posted about Anna Chambers’ Plush Apples a few weeks ago. It was one of the busier comments section with readers arguing over who thought up plush apples first. And while these were just recently released, the first photos of Anna’s handmade apples were from May of 2007. Enough said...or let the debate continue.

We are reviewing the two happy apples, and the big difference between the two plushies – other than the color – is the material. Which would you prefer? Velour or Fleece? Personally, I like the green apple slightly more because of the fleece material. It feels a little softer and has a more "handmade" look to it.

The stitching on these figures is fairly solid. They’re made in China, so it’s not a handmade line. And they’ve done a pretty good job getting an actual apple look to a plush. The bottom has that dented in apple core look to it. I wonder if you cook these up and smash them if you'll be able to make applesauce...???
