Erick Scarecrow and ESC-Toy recently released the newest Kissaki colorway to retailers.  The Wicked Kissaki (purple and green-blue) follows on the heels of the Avenger colorway (black and orange) and the Sandstorm (brown and blue).

If you haven’t read those reviews, you can check out the Avenger review here and the Sandstorm review here.

Packaging

The packaging for this version is the same as the previous editions.  However, the color scheme on the package is exclusive to the Wicked colorway.  Also, they have added a dual interlocking tray inside.  There were some issues with the first version (Avenger) tipping over inside of the box.

The Figure

The Wicked Kissaki figures stands approximately 10” tall by 4.5” wide and has a single point of articulation at the neck.  This colorway uses various shade of purple for the figure’s outfit, with a greenish blue face.

While the previous editions were released as NYCC and SDCC exclusives, the Wicked version will be available at retailers around the US (and internet).  The figure will be limited to a run of 288 pieces.

Our Opinion

When it comes to different color editions (or colorways in designer toy vernacular), everyone usually has a favorite look.  Just check out folks’ collection photos.  Some people only collect all white, glow-in-the-dark, pink, bloody, etc.  I’m not sure if there is someone out there who only collects purple figures with blue-green faces.  But if there is, adding the Wicked Kissaki would be a no-brainer.

So, while the Sandstorm edition is my personal favorite Kissaki, the Wicked version is a close number two.  It uses a wild combination of colors that I don’t think I’ve seen on another vinyl toy.  Although, it does leave me wanting to drink a Grape Crush.  Isn’t it the same color combo as a Grape Crush soda can?

I still think that the sculpt for that front piece of hair was an extremely weird choice they could have done a much better job and taken care of that seam line if the really had taken the time to think about it
