Background

Recently, David + Sun-Min and the Uglydoll team released a few new characters upon the demanding public.  We’ll be taking a look at the two latest releases in Ugly Ghost and Puglee.

Ugly Ghosts can be found way out beyond the back exits of Uglytown.  If you ever decide to go camping near those trees just beyond the gates of the big city, you may be lucky enough to see one!  Boo!  Boo!  Is that some sort of scare tactic or is he trying to tell you his name?  Or is it Karaoke night?  Hard to tell.  But one thing is certain...Ugly Ghosts are good to have around if you can find a way to make friends with them.  Try leaving out some sweet snacks under the bed.

Puglee is super smart.  How can you tell?  You know how they say if you get really good grades, you’ll have a better shot at getting a really great job?  Well Puglee figured out that a great way to avoid getting a job was to get the worst possible grades ever!  Only an F- would do.  But here’s the problem...Puglee LOVES to read, write, and count.  So she gets all A’s no matter how hard she tries!  Puglee is also smart enough to know that life isn’t about getting a grade.  It’s about the special bond she now has with you.

Packaging

Maybe I should just leave this section blank as there is no packaging.  But each plush does have a tag that has the above story printed on it, as well as a drawn version of the character.

The Figures

For this review, we are looking at the Little Ugly versions of Ugly Ghost and Puglee.  Ugly Ghost is approximately 7” in height and shaped like a piece of candy corn.  Puglee is around 7.5” tall and resembles a pig (with his ears and nose).

Ugly Ghost has a few whisps of hairs on the top of his head, similar to Ugly Worm.  And, correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that Puglee is the first Ugly with nostrils.

Our Opinion

All along, I thought that Ugly Ghost was going to my favorite of the 2008 Uglydoll line.  But I’ve been swayed.  I’m pretty sure it’s gotta be Puglee.  Oh no…maybe Babo’s Bird.  Who knows!?!

The stories behind the characters are always entertaining, and these two aren’t an exception.  David Horvath does a great job coming up with random and hilarious descriptions for his creations.

While there was a pink Uglydog, Puglee appears to be a slightly different shade.  And Ugly Ghost is the first character that is gray.  Plus, you can give him a nice little combover.
