NYCC 2008: Rocket USA

Img_4095

Rocket USA had a NY Comic Con booth that was stacked to the ceiling with Gus Fink designed products.  The Boogily Heads, Boogily Bunnies and Stitch Kittens were all shown off.  There were a few rare variants that you were able to get your hands on.

Img_4099

Fresh off the heels of his Boogily Heads Series 3 release, Fink was showing off a few new plush designs.  You might remember them some of them from his earlier Boogily designs...including Squiggie, Skullgnome and Scantron. (Am I the only one who breaks out into a cold sweat when I read Scantron?  It's like I'm taken back to 4th grade Science class.)

Img_4096

They also had some of the first Puff Puppies on display.  From the looks one them, they should be big with kids.  Look for them later in the year.

Img_4127

And finally, they had the Mr. Redbones plush from the Dreary & Naughty book.  John LaFleur and Shawn Dubin are responsible for the story and designs.

NYCC 2008: mimoco

Img_4091

The mimoco booth was rockin'...literally...as the Sucklord and his crew entertained the masses with their freestyle tunes.  NY Comic Con also saw the release of the heavily anticipated tokidoki mimobot collection.

Img_4090

I tried to stay away from that area during the tokidoki signing, since I mistakingly got caught up in a Simone Legno signing in San Diego.

NYCC 2008: adFunture

Img_3984

This is the first convention we've seen adFunture at since back at Toy Fair 2005.  It's not like they haven't been busy producing pieces.  They have...and some pretty cool ones at that.

Img_3978

They had a nice setup at NYCC, showing off the Pork Dumpling Shawnimals, the DGPH vinyl line (a personal favorite), some Teddy Troops, BUKA Series 1 and a few other lines.

NYCC 2008: Shawnimals

Img_4058

Whether you like Shawnimals for their ninjas and various plushies or you're into their vinyl stuff...all was on display at NY Comic Con.  Two versions of their Wee Sticker Pork Dumpling vinyls (produced by adFunture) were shown off.

Img_4062

Also of interest is the Plushform plush.  It's the first plush that's really being marketed as a customizable, blank plush.  Could the ninja form become the platform toy of the plush world?  Quite possibly!  Just check out what some of the artists did...amazing.

Toy Sum Party in Chinatown

If you missed the Toy Sum auction and show in New York's Chinatown section, Suckadelic has posted a video for those who missed it...or were too inebriated to remember what went on there.  It's definitely worth a watch...all of the great Sucklord antics.

NYCC 2008: Sok-O

Img_3953

The Sok-O booth was full of socks...luckily it didn't smell like a gym locker room.  That's because these socks were made into cute, 100% handmade Sok-O plushies.  We gave them a spot in our top 10 plushies of 2007 for a good reason...they just make you smile.

Img_3950

Having never seen the packaging, it's interesting that they are in rather ornate boxes.  And each one comes with a birth certificate.  Another nice touch.

Cinema Of Fear Deluxe Plush Series 2

Plush2group

Following the breakout success of their Cinema Of Fear Roto Plush Series 1,  Mezco revisits three memorable horror icons softer sides.

  • Freddy Krueger as seen in A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors sporting a dapper tuxedo.
  • Jason from Friday the 13th Part 2 features the “sack mask” look he
experimented with before settling on his hockey mask, includes pick axe
    accessory.
  • Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 featuring the new mask worn
in the second TCM movie, Leatherface also has a completely new outfit
and his trusty oversized chainsaw accessory.

Each figure stands approximately 13" tall.  Mezco will have the prototypes on display at NY Comic Con from April 17-20th at booth 1041, actual product will appear in stores this
Halloween.

NYCC 2008: Dynomight NYC

Img_3944

The NYCC exclusive Bumrush vinyl figure was being displayed (as well as sold) at the Dynomight NYC booth.  We loved the original colorway, but the exclusive is just as cool.  And it might even be 20% scarier.  But that's just an estimate.  Could it be the purple nurples?  Yowsa!

And keep an eye out for the blank Bumrush.  As you can see, there were a few custom pieces on display.
