Background

Rocket World recently introduced us to their regular line of Combat Mod Squad figures.  Titus and Affonso both have weapons strapped to their backs, slightly refined sculpts and retro Italian scooters.

The scooters ridden by the I.W.G. have been modified with the same Alien technology as their rocket ships.  Using the same advanced and highly efficient engines which are fueled by any common refuse, these scooters emit zero pollutants.

Titus and Affonso can often be seen with their scooters parked in front of one of their favorite cafes drinking mint tea and eating tasty baked treats after a combat mission.

Packaging

Both of the Combat Mod Squad figures are packaged in the same window-front box.  You can differentiate by the check mark on the front…or by looking through the window.  There is some nice reading on the rear of the box, part of which has been mentioned above.

The Figure

The IWG Combat Mod Squad Titus figure is approximately 6 ¼” tall and has 5 points of articulation (arms, legs and neck).  He comes equipped with a realistic looking green and black sniper rifle.  The rifle is strapped to Titus’ back, so that he can ride on his Italian-made scooter

The light-green Vespa wannabe is approximately 6 ¼” long.  It has spinning tires and the handlebars actually move the front wheel.  The super-detailed scooter allows Titus to actually sit down upon the seat.

Limited to a run of only 500 pieces, this Titus is sculpted a little differently from the original IWG figure.  His muzzle is smaller and the figure’s legs have been sculpted to allow it to be positioned on the scooter seat.

Our Opinion

It was only a matter of time before the regular sized Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo line was afforded some mode of transportation.  And given artist Patrick Ma’s affinity for retro Vespas, a retro Italian scooter only makes sense.

But having a mode of transportation meant that some changes had to happen with the IWG figures.  It’s up to you to determine if you like the old or new Titus sculpt.  I think that they look different enough that they could have been completely different characters.

You can pick one up at the following:

IWG Combat Mod Squad Titus Grades:

Quality: 9/10
Paint: 8/10
Durability: 8/10
Hype: 9/10
Fun Factor: 9/10
Value: 8/10
Overall: 9.3/10
