SDCC 2007: STRANGEco (Booth #4729)

Img_2112

STRANGEco debuted several of the hottest new vinyl figures at San Diego Comic Con.  Their SDCC exclusive grayscale Luey figure set (by Bob Dob) was a personal favorite.  And the upcoming Vivisect Playset is going to include some of the biggest artists out there.

It was nice to see a new line of Pete Fowler figures - Monsterism Pets and Owners.  And Touma's Slither was another impressive piece on display.

SDCC 2007: ToyQube (Booth #4937)

Img_2127

The ToyQube booth was displaying a number of prototypes from the company (mainly, works by Keith Poon).  They were selling Kaniza blanks, however, the actual line was only being displayed in prototype form.  They also had a number of his Sharky designs for sale.

The booth was also showcasing a number of Bigshot Toyworks projects.  Ashley Wood's Bertie the Pipebot prototype was definitely impressive.  But so were the pieces from Gary Taxali (Oh No), Nathan Jurevicius (MTV Fauna Kaiju) and Brian Taylor (Plush Coney).

SDCC 2007: Tonner Doll Co (Booth #5540)

Img_2242

Comic Con was the first time that Tonner displayed their new Jack Sparrow Tonner Character Figure from the Pirates of the Caribbean license.  Although they did not have her on display, the Elizabeth Swann figure is also in production.  The company's SDCC exclusive was the Draco Malfoy - Slitherin Seeker TCF (from the currently uber-popular Harry Potter series).

Tonner also had a few new DC Stars on display, including Posion Ivy, Batgirl and Storm - Aquaman's giant seahorse.  And from Marvel Comics, they were showing off the Spider-Man 3 lineup which includes Spider-Man, Peter Parker, Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy.  I can't wait to see what Tonner has in store for the upcoming months.

SDCC 2007: Pu Pu Bros (Booth #5036)

Img_2290

The Pu Pu Bros booth was stocked full of merchandise from Bwana Spoons, Le Merde, Martin Ontiveros and Justin Scrappers Morrison.  Bwana had a new pair of shoes from Deckline (He was selling them...I'm not commenting on his personal footwear) as well as several exclusive figures from the likes of Max Toy Co, Super7 and Gargamel.

Img_2285

The handcast Le Merde pieces were great.  I'm sure they're not everyones "cup o' tea" but I enjoy the wackiness of the creations.

SDCC 2007: Super7 (Booth #4829)

Img_2092

Super7 had a number of San Diego Comic Con exclusives on display (and available) at their booth.  Usually, their booth can be downright overwhelming...so many colorful kaiju displayed in their glass display case as well as the larger pieces on top of the rear wood bookcase.

The company held daily events (including 126 Minutes of Pus, the Tokyo Underground book release, special signings from Tim Biskup and Hiddy from Secret Base) as well as their exclusive Super7 vinyl figures.

Img_1972

Sideshow Collectibles really got the ball rolling by showing off a few of their upcoming 1/6 scale Star Wars figures: Bespin Luke Skywalker and Padme Amidala - Ilum (the winner of the Extended Universe poll).  Also displayed from the Star Wars license were the Wicket and C3-PO VCD figures (produced by Medicom).

Medicom is also expanding their Disney Vinyl Collectible Doll collection with the following characters: Tigger, Tinker Bell, Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Ariel (The Little Mermaid) and the Guitar Mickey.

Not on display, but announced from Sideshow are the 1/6 scale Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee from The Lord of the Rings license.  And the company announced that it has acquired a few new licenses.  Of significance are Indiana Jones and The Godfather.  Both will include 12" tall figure lines.  I know it was you Fredo.  You broke my heart!
