Background

Mimoco, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Ltd., recently released Series 1 of their Star Wars mimobot Designer USB Flash Drives.  The first series includes 4 of the most recognizable characters in the Star Wars galaxy: Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, R2-D2 and Chewbacca.  You’ll now be able to store data on one of your favorite sci-fi movie characters.

Packaging

The Star Wars mimobot line come packaged in a clear cylinder that is about 6” in height.  The Star Wars and mimobot logos are both prominent.  The top lid details what character, what number in the run, and the size of the mimobot.

The Figures

Each Star Wars mimobot is a Flash Drive that’s available in 1GB, 2GB
and 4GB capacities.  The line comes preloaded with Star Wars mimobot
content such as soundbites, avatars, trailers, and wallpapers.  If you
don’t like the bonus material, you can actually delete it to free up
space.  They are hi-speed USB 2.0 and compatible with both Windows and
Mac computers.

The figures stand at 2 3/8 inches in height.  The limited edition line
has runs of the following:  Darth Vader (3,500 pcs), Stormtrooper
(2,500 pcs), R2-D2 (3,500 pcs), and Chewbacca (2,500 pcs).

Our Opinion

Being a Star Wars fan, we were excited to see a combination of a fun
line and a great license.  This is the first licensed mimobot line.
The previous figures have been the work of some of the best designers
in the vinyl world.

It was an interesting choice for the first Star Wars mimobots.  I might
have released C3-PO along with R2-D2, since those two characters are
inseparable.  But the line is made up of A-listers.  As future series are released, we’re hoping that they
focus on characters from the original trilogy.
