Background

Cross World Connections (CWC) is the company behind the popular Blythe doll.  CWC, who works in conjunction with Hasbro, holds the Asian license rights for Blythe.  Blythe is produced in several different sizes, from several different materials.

The Petite Blythe dolls we are reviewing are Treasure Hunt and Running Deer.  Both figures were released this past summer in Japan.

Packaging

The two figures differ in packaging.  Since the Treasure Hunt Petite Blythe seems to be more of a “deluxe” set, she is packaged in a clear plastic box showing all of her assorted accessories.

On the other hand, Running Deer is packaged in a box with a window front.  It’s probably not as impressive to display, in case you prefer keeping figures in their packaging.

The Figures

Petite Blythe dolls stand at 4” in height…that’s a third the height of
the Neo Blythe.  And unlike the Neo, whose eyes change with a tug of a
string, Petite Blythe dolls eyelids close when they are leaned on their
backs.

The Treasure Hunt Petite Blythe has a stylin’ purple hairdo…just like
all of the pirates I’ve seen.  She has blue eyes and is loaded with so
many accessories that it might be tough to name them all.  We’ll try
though: a tri-cornered pirate hat, long jacket, pants, black sock-style
boots, 2 waist sashes (gray and tan), 2 belts with sheathes, eye patch,
vest, t-shirt, pants, short boots, 2 paper daggers, paper bird, paper
map.  The stand she is supplied with is the type that wraps around the
figure’s body.

The Running Deer Petite Blythe is more of a premium figure.  She
doesn’t have oodles of extras, but her outfit definitely makes up for
that.  Running Deer comes with a headdress, along with her top, skirt
and boots.  The one problem I have is that her stand requires you to
insert the figure’s feet into slots on the base of the stand.  That
means you’ll need to take her shoes off to display her.

Our Opinion

So do you like a ton of accessories or an original looking figure?
Essentially that’s the difference between these two Petite Blythes.
While the Treasure Hunt figure is somewhat ordinary in looks (sans her
purple hair), Running Deer is a shade darker and appears to have
accented makeup applied to her cheeks and lips.  And while Running Deer
has virtually no accessories, Treasure Hunt is loaded with a pirate’s
booty.
