Jeremy 'MAD" Madl's work with Upper Deck continues with the initial drawings of the Alexander Ovechkin All-Star Vinyl figure. It looks as if MAD will be bringing a stylized edge to the line. I think a problem with the NHL line might be that there aren't that many well known, recognizable hockey players. Gone are the days of Gretzky, Messier, Bourque, Roy, Lemieux, etc. How about a 'Canes player???
Cross World Connections (CWC) is the company behind the popular Blythe doll. CWC, who works in conjunction with Hasbro, holds the Asian license rights for Blythe. Blythe is produced in several different sizes, from several different materials.
The Petite Blythe dolls we are reviewing are Treasure Hunt and Running Deer. Both figures were released this past summer in Japan.
The two figures differ in packaging. Since the Treasure Hunt Petite Blythe seems to be more of a “deluxe” set, she is packaged in a clear plastic box showing all of her assorted accessories.
On the other hand, Running Deer is packaged in a box with a window front. It’s probably not as impressive to display, in case you prefer keeping figures in their packaging.
We missed this little guy at Toy Fair last week. Yes...that's Sailor Babo and he is only available in the Little Ugly version. The Uglydoll booth was so full of new and exciting things, that we missed little Babo with his sailor cap. You'll soon be able to pull up anchor and purchase Sailor Babo for yourself.
On Saturday, February 24th at 3 p.m. at NY Comic Con, ToyQube Booth #124 will have an exclusive set of 30 blank and signed Billy Bananas figures (“Shooting Blanks Edition”), which will go on sale for $60 for the first time ever. ToyQube will also unveil the highly-anticipated "X-RAY Edition", which is set to drop March 2007 and is exclusive to ToyQube.
Billy Bananas is a 5” tall, injection-molded, soft vinyl designer toy made in extremely limited editions, designed by Tristan Eaton of Thunderdog Studios. A blind chase assortment Billy Bananas set will be available in Spring 2007 exclusively from ThunderdogStudios.com.
I'll admit that when I first saw French designer Skwak's Maniac vinyl figure...I had no idea what it was called, who it was by or what company produced it. One thing i did know was that I was a fan of it. The 8" tall Maniac vinyl was one of the highlights of Toy Tokyo's Toy Fair booth. The estimated shipping date is April of this year, with 500 pieces produced. There will also be several exclusive versions if you miss out on the original colorway. We see a Toy of the Year nominee is this vinyl from MINDstyle.
If you're at NY Comic con this weekend, you'll want to check out UNKL's newest figure...available at the Toy Tokyo booth. It's the only shot you have of picking up Kow Yokoyama's 12" tall HazMaPo. There are only 250 of these green and silver figures available, so they will most likely sell out at the show.
Well...we saw these at Toy Fair, and now have a little info about the TV Head line of blind boxed trading figures. Kaching Brands will be releasing Artist Series 1 around April. The 3.5" figures will retail around $7.99 each.
Series 1 includes designs from:
Tim Tsui, MAD, Sket One, Toby HK, Mizna Wada, Colorblok, Cameron Tiede, Maxim, Teahair, Skwak and a secret figure.
Monster Factory is releasing two new plush characters Gabe (left)
& Anthony (right) at the NYCC.
Each character is limited to 25 pieces.
It is one of the first American
appearances for the Canadian design team (featuring: Rhya Tamasauskas, Bliss Man and Adam Dunn). Check 'em out at Toy Tokyo's
booth - #126.
We first saw Ewok 5MH's Horselington last summer at San Diego Comic Con. It was one of our favorite pieces at the show...and after a somewhat impatient wait...we'll finally be able to get our hands on him. MINDstyle will be releasing an exclusive version at NY Comic Con, with the original color version (limited to 500 pieces) being released in May of this year. If you're at NYCC, be aware that only 25 pieces will be released each day.
Tim Tsui's Da Bronx Team is back and teaming up with MINDstyle to debut the new Daminchi figure. The version pictured above will be the NY Comic Con exclusive. There will be only 200 pieces available and will run $99.99 each.
