Background

If you’ve followed the designer toy scene over the past few years, you have probably heard of Alex Pardee and his key creation – Bunnywith.  Bunnwith is a not so well endowed armless rabbit that finds himself combined with and/or in peculiar situations.

A few years back, Rock America released the first series of Bunnywith plush toys.  That series included the original Bunnywith, Bunywith Baby, Bunnywith Siamese Twin and Bunnywith Tentacles (white and black versions).  They also did a number of exclusives for Spencer’s Gifts.

The 4 newest Bunnywith plush figures are: Bunnywith Anger Management Issues (SDCC exclusive), Bunnywith Recent Steroid Abuse, Bunnywith Job Interview and Bunnywith Homesick Abortion.  We’re not reviewing the last of the list…since it might be a little too disturbing for younger readers.

Packaging

Rock America has changed up the packing the Bunnywith line.  They have gone from a cardboard box to a plastic cylinder style of packaging.  There is great artwork from Pardee on the rear of each cylinder.

The Figures

Each Bunnywith figure stands at about 12” in height – from feet to
ears.  Both the Steroid and Anger Management plushies are the same
pattern, it’s just that the Anger Management plush is made of green
fabric.  Bunnywith Job Interview appears to be the original Bunnywith
with a shirt, tie and suit jacket added.

Each figure is numbered out of 600, except for the SDCC exclusive (300).

Our Opinion

I still have the same objections about this series as I did about the
original.  I would like to see the plush toys look a little closer to
Alex Pardee’s drawn characters.  If they would switch out the black
eyes for yellow, use plastic teeth and have the mouth area closer to
the face (a little less stuffing)…it would give collectors a plush that
is closer to Pardee’s actual artwork.  With that being said…I will
admit that the new pattern they used on the 2 “pumped-up” plushies is
much improved.  They worked on the mouth area, so it isn’t pushed out
as much as the original.

I also had a problem with the Bunnywith Homesick Abortion plush.  Was
there a need for an aborted bunny fetus being made into a toy?  It
might be good for a chuckle in Pardee’s book, but there were probably
100 other Bunnywith characters I would have made into a plush toy.

The Bunnywith plush toys are distributed by DKE Toys.
